Profile

Award-winning
author of humorous romances
I
write to get away from it all-from dirty ovens, gardens filled with
weeds, and clutter. Sadly, when I finish a few hours at the computer,
it's still there. I just don't have the time to take care of the
housework-thank goodness. But thoughts leap around in my head, plots
and characters have to be put down on the page immediately or they
will be on to other things before I can tell my readers their stories.
My
third-grade teacher told me I was going to be a writer. Of course,
she told me I was going to be an artist, too, minutes before she
discovered that what she thought was a picture I'd drawn of a donkey
was really a cow.
However,
life stepped in before I could get around to writing anything. I
have an bachelor's degree from Kansas State University and two master's
degrees. I married my dear George and have followed him from Kentucky
to Missouri to Kansas to-well, after many other moves, to the beautiful
hill country of Texas. As I write this, I can look out at Lake Buchanan
and watch rabbits hopping all over our lawn while are three cockers
sleep.
My
main occupation has been high school Spanish teacher, but I've also
been a vocational counselor, program director with adults with mental
retardation, and minister. Nothing improved my writing more than
the discipline of putting together a sermon every Sunday.
The
Mad Herringtons is my first full-length novel to
be published. It was a finalist in prestigious Golden Heart and
in the Royal Ascot contest sponsored by the RWA Regency chapter.

I've
also had short stories published in Woman's World, The Romantic
Bower and Rhapsody magazine as well as a personal
essay in the State Lines section of the Houston
Chronicle, the top free-lance market in Houston.
